Abacus adds up results from Niblack

Further assay results are reported from the historic mine area at the Niblack massive sulphide project in southeastern Alaska.

Abacus Minerals (VSE) reports that hole 66 intersected four distinct mineralized horizons within a 194-ft. section (from 420 to 614 ft.), approximately 325 ft. downdip from hole 65. Results included: 13 ft. of 1.45% copper, 0.94% zinc, 0.086 oz. gold and 0.75 oz. silver per ton; 11 ft. of 4.23% copper, 0.63% zinc, 0.018 oz. gold and 0.88 oz. silver; 15 ft. of 1.53% copper, 13.11% zinc, 0.075 oz. gold and 0.56 oz. silver; and 18 ft. of 3.08% copper, 0.27% zinc, 0.035 oz. gold and 0.75 oz. silver.

Hole 67, while drilled from the same pad as hole 66, was designed to intersect the zone 75 ft. along strike to the east. A downdip of 250 ft. from hole 66 is attributed to faulting. Hole 67 returned 63 ft., from 785 to 848 ft. averaging 1.8% copper, 1.91% zinc, 0.14 oz. gold and 1.44 oz. silver (including an interval grading 5.08% copper, 4.01% zinc, 0.42 oz. gold and 4.79 oz. silver over 16 ft.).

No significant mineralization is reported for hole 68, which was drilled off the same pad as holes 66 and 67, with the intention of testing the zone 100 ft. along strike to the west of hole 66.

Based on the mine plans from underground workings and four confirmed drill hole hits into the gold-rich massive sulphide zone, Abacus has confirmed mineralization to a minimum vertical depth of 600 ft. and along a strike length of 300 ft.

Drilling is under way to the north of hole 68, testing a strong, induced-polarization anomaly that extends from the mine site.
