Abcourt extends Abcourt-Barvue silver-zinc zones in Quebec

An initial 2,100 metres of drilling by Abcourt Mines (ABI-M) has extended the known mineralized zones of the past-producing Abcourt-Barvue silver-zinc mine property northeast of Val d’Or, Que.

Holes 2 though 8 were drilled into the Barvue zone, east of the mined-out area. The holes have outlined a resource 6.9 metres wide, 118 metres long and 117 metres deep, from a depth of 70 to 187 metres.

Highlights include: 3.6 metres (from a depth of 173 metres) grading 111.8 grams silver per tonne and 5.19% zinc and 4.4 metres (from 185 metres) of 20.5 grams silver and 8.87% zinc in hole 5; 12 metres (from 158 metres) of 14.8 grams silver and 4.86% zinc in hole 6; 3 metres (from 130 metres) of 17.4 grams silver and 6.83% zinc and 12 metres (from 145 metres) of 22.1 grams silver and 4.52% zinc in hole 7.

Abcourt says these new holes add another 329,000 tonnes grading 30.17 grams silver and 5.09% zinc to the resource, factoring in a 10% dilution.

Hole 10, drilled into the Abcourt zone, intersected 3.92 metres (from 242 metres) of 150 grams silver per tonne and 3.83% zinc. The hole added 26 tonnes to the resource and showed the resource to be open at depth.

Not counting the most recent drilling, the Abcourt-Barvue and Vendome properties — which are 13 km apart — hold combined reserves and resources of 1.54 million tonnes grading 202.63 grams silver per tonne, 5.56% zinc, 0.29% copper and 0.62 gram gold per tonne, equivalent to 8.6 million oz.

silver, 196 million lbs. zinc, 10 million lbs. copper and 31,500 oz. gold.

Within the above reserves, there are 674,000 tonnes of proven reserves at grades, after 15% dilution, of 90.86 grams silver, 7.97% zinc, 0.32% copper and 0.82 gram gold.

In January, Abcourt raised $629,000 by privately placing 2.51 million shares at 25cents per share. Of these new shares, 2.1 million are flow-through shares. Proceeds are being used in part to continue the current 4,100-metre drill program on the Barvue and Vendome silver-zinc properties.
