Aber ships till samples to laboratory for analysis

Vancouver-based Aber Resources (TSE) says it has taken hundreds of till and esker samples to follow up geophysical anomalies on its properties in the Lac de Gras area of the Northwest Territories.

The first samples collected have been shipped to Lakefield Research in Ontario for analysis. Concentrations of indicator minerals — including pyrope garnets, chrome diopsides and ilmenites — detected by the lab will help pinpoint potential kimberlite pipes in the area.

But it will be at least two months before Aber considers launching a drilling program to follow up combined results of its geochemical and geophysical surveys, the company says. About 25% of the airborne data remains to be processed, examined and followed up.

Kennecott Canada has the right to earn a 60% interest in Aber’s Lac de Gras holdings by spending $10 million over five years. Other participants include Pure Gold Resources (TSE), Commonwealth Gold (VSE), Tenby Resources, SouthernEra Resources (TSE), Westfort Petroleums (TSE), KRL Resources (VSE) and Canfund Ventures.

Aber also says it has completed phase-one drilling on the D zone at its High Lake polymetallic deposit near the Arctic coast. Phase-one drilling on the A zone is now under way.
