Acadian Mining (ADA-T, C2Z-F) has received zinc and lead grades from its Getty property in near Gays River, Nova Scotia, that the company says show potential for an open pit mine.
The Getty deposit is located only 1.7 km from Acadian’s Scotia mill. The company began production at the Scotia zinc-lead mine in May 2007. Acadian expects to produce 30,000 tonnes of high-grade zinc concentrate and 10,000 tonnes of high-grade lead concentrate per year.
Highlights from drilling at the Getty deposit include a 9.5-metre intersection grading 2.02% zinc and 3.39% lead, including 3.45 metres grading 4.41% zinc and 6.82% lead.
Another hole returned 12 metres grading 0.9% zinc and 3.3% lead.
Acadian has received results from 54 of 100 diamond drill holes so far.
The company plans to upgrade the inferred resource at Getty which currently stands at 4.16 million tonnes grading 1.81% zinc and 1.4%.
The Scotia deposit has a measured and indicated resource of 5.24 million tonnes grading 4.1% zinc and 2% lead and an inferred resource of 1.8 million tonnes grading 3.1% zinc and 1.1% lead.
The Getty deposit is a west extension of the carbonate bank complex that also hosts the Scotia deposit.
Acadian is also exploring on its Carrolls Farm and Carrolls Corner prospects located west of Getty, where drilling has confirmed the zinc-lead mineralization for another 2.5 km.
