AFRICA — New plant for Hymex

Hymex Diamond (HMD-V) has installed an alluvial plant at its Diani diamond project in Guinea, West Africa.

The junior says the plant is capable of handling 300 tons of diamondiferous gravel per hour, with an annual capacity of 2 million tons. The plant is also capable of recovering gold; it can process 150 tons of material per hour through its three Knelson concentrators.

Hymex began trial runs of diamondiferous gravel in late December. The company also installed a kimberlite crushing plant at the Droujba blow, 5 km from the Diani plant. This year, the company hopes to process 1 million tons of alluvial material, as well as 360,000 tons of kimberlitic material from the Droujba blow.

Commercial production at Diani is expected to begin once the trial run is complete. Hymex also plans to continue exploring the Diani concession, which hosts a number of previously identified kimberlitic anomalies.
