Results from the first seven rotary percussion holes, drilled 20 metres apart, traced a 6-to-37-metre-wide zone of gold mineralization over a 100-metre strike length. Drilling is ongoing along strike to determine the extent of the mineralizaton.
Two-metre-wide composite samples were sent to SGS Tanzania laboratories in Mwanza, Tanzania. Highlights include:
— 37 metres with a grade of 0.83 gram gold per tonne, which included an 8-metre intercept of 1.46 grams gold and a 9-metre intercept of 1.22 grams gold:
— 24 metres grading 0.72 gram gold, which included a 2-metre intercept of 2.17 grams and 4 metres of 1.51 grams; and
— a 6-metre intercept grading 1.64 grams gold.
The holes were drilled at minus 60. All intercepts occurred between 3 and 42 metres down-hole. Additional assays ranging from 0.53 to 1.37 grams gold were intersected over lengths of 6-30 metres. One hole returned no significant results.
Gold is associated with stacked and stockworked quartz veins in a shear zone within altered diorite, near its contact with andesite. The Masumbi project is underlain by a greenstone belt that has seen past gold production.
The deposit is on the 1,319-sq.-km Ndori project, which AfriOre optioned from San Martin Mining Research & Investment Co. in 2002.
