Altai active at Manto Azul

A feasibility study is in progress on the Manto Azul copper project in west-central Peru, Altai Resources (TSE) reports.

Acid leach column tests show that 77% of the total copper and 98% of the soluble copper can be recovered on a 10-day leach cycle, with material crushed to 1.5 inches.

Although the feasibility study is expected by year-end, Altai intends to carry out additional drilling to determine the dimensions of the copper oxide zone.

In other news, a prefeasibility study has been received for the Carolina gold project in North Carolina. It concludes that US$1.5 million should be spent to enable production of 200 tonnes per day. At US$350 per oz. gold, the payback period will be 1.5 years. Additional drilling is planned. In Guyana, the company and affiliated Menora Resources (ME) are proceeding with an exploration program on the Tassawini prospect. The work is being carried out under a temporary prospecting permit. The partnership has applied for a prospecting permit.
