Recent infill drilling by Altavista Mines (AIA-M) at its Santa Anna property in northwestern Quebec has confirmed the continuity of several gold-bearing zones.
The ongoing 4,000-metre program is designed to outline which of zones 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20 contain resources that are exploitable by open-pit methods, and move a portion of those resources into the reserve category.
Total resources at Santa Anna now stand at 1.6 million tonnes grading 3.18 grams gold per tonne, equivalent to 150,000 contained ounces gold, in zones 8, 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20.
So far the company has results for 15 holes totalling 1,900 metres. They were drilled on sections between 4475N and 4600N in order to tighten the earlier spacing, from 30-35 metres to 12.5 metres.
Highlights from the 15 holes include: 4 metres (from 9.3 metres) grading 3.59 grams gold per tonne in hole 140; 7 metres (from 32 metres) of 5.36 grams gold in hole 143; and 7.1 metres (from 115.5 metres) of 4.17 grams gold in hole 152.
Altavista says that if the results of the 4,000-metre program prove positive, it will complete its feasibility study and then begin obtaining the necessary development permits.
