American Bonanza advances Copperstone to pre-feasibility

Vancouver – American Bonanza Gold (BZA-T) has retained an independent engineering firm to carry out a pre-feasibility study for its wholly owned Copperstone gold project in Arizona’s La Paz County.

The study will review exploration data, resource block modeling and resource estimates. On a parallel track, the company will collect environmental, geotechnical, hydrological and metallurgical data to support mine permitting and project design.

On the exploration front, drilling will continue to test prospective targets elsewhere on the property.

Once the pre-feasibility study is complete, the company will launch a full feasibility study with a view to starting production in 2007.

A previous operator produced about 500,000 oz. gold from an open-pit mine at Copperstone from 1987 to 1992. The average grade was 3.8 grams gold per tonne.

American Bonanza Gold envisions an underground mine that would exploit higher-grade zones from a decline at the base of the open pit.
