AMR buys another rare earth factory

Having acquired 60% of a rare earth plant in China last year, Advanced Material Resources (ASE) has bought an 80% joint-venture stake in another such factory in the same country.

The former project is in the eastern province of Jiangsu, the latter is farther north in Shendong province.

The company has invested US$3.7 million in the Zibo venture and hopes to double the plant’s capacity to produce metals and oxides from rare earth chlorides.

It plans to acquire still more Chinese rare earth plants and to introduce new processing technologies.
