Anatolia Minerals (ANOU-T) has defined considerable gold following reverse circulation drilling at its 100%-owned pler gold project in eastern central Turkey.
Since March, 207 holes were drilled on a 50-metre grid pattern. Results from 139 holes drilled on the Main zone were released in mid-June; 81 holes graded greater than 0.5 gram gold per tonne; specifically:
- 27 holes assayed greater than 2 grams gold and averaged 3.44 grams gold. The average oxide thickness in these holes was 13.97 metres.
- 29 holes contained intercepts between 1-2 grams, averaging 1.33 grams gold, with an average oxide thickness of 9.83 metres and
- 25 holes assayed from 0.5-1 gram gold, averaging 0.74 gram gold. The average oxide thickness in these holes was 3.76 metres.
Last year, a block-model-inferred resource estimate of the Main Porphyry zone by consulting firm Watts, Griffis and McOuat resulted in 33 million tonnes grading 2.1 grams gold per tonne.
In April, 2002, the Marble Cover area was estimated to contain an inferred 4 million tonnes grading 7.7 grams gold and the MN mine area, 7 million tonnes grading 4.1 grams gold per tonne (T.N.M., Jan.26/04).
The current drill results will help to define a shallow open pit resource. A feasibility study is scheduled for completion by the middle of next year.
At mid-June Anatolia had 41 million shares outstanding, 44.9 million on a fully-diluted basis.
