APGO boosts membership

The Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario has expanded its membership to beyond 1,000.

While the majority of the APGO’s membership resides in Ontario, 44 of Canadian-based members live outside the province, another 17 live in the U.S. Others live in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, South Africa and the U.K.

The APGO has also issued certificates of authorization to 66 firms offering professional geoscience services to the public.

The Professional Geoscientists Act requires firms and individuals practising professional geoscience in Ontario to apply for registration with the APGO, though some exemptions apply. Applicants are required to write a professional practice and ethics exam.
