Aquest hits more gold at Anabella

Junior Aquest Minerals (AQU-V) has intersected additional gold and antimony at its Anabella project in western Guatemala.

The mineralization is hosted in fine-grained, disseminated arsenopyrite in argillaceous siltstones and carbonaceous shales.

The Vancouver-based company can acquire the project for an initial payment of US$10 million. The property holdings cover a 5-km-long trend of gold-antimony mineralization, as well as a mine, mill and smelter.

High-grade antimony lenses have been mined from the Anabella area intermittently since the late 1960s. To date, Aquest has completed nine reverse-circulation holes on the property.

Hole 8 was drilled across the central portion of the Anabella deposit, one of two known deposits in the area. The hole intersected strong gold and antimony mineralization within four zones. The total length-weighted average was 0.45% antimony and 3.32 grams gold per tonne over 95 metres. The hole was collared about 50 metres northwest of previously reported hole 4 (84 metres averaging 0.52% antimony and 1.82 grams gold).

Hole 9 was collared 1 km west of the Anabella mine area. The vertical hole was positioned within the limits of the historic LC mine and intersected 16 metres averaging 1.45% antimony and 6.29 grams gold. This included a 2-metre section of 4.5% antimony and 25.49 grams gold.

Holes 9 through 12 were collared within the limits of the LC mine area, which is 1 km west of the Anabella mine. The holes were collared along a 200-metre section of the 700-metre strike length of the LC deposit. Results confirm the manto-style of mineralization at the LC deposit.

Hole 9 was drilled vertically and intersected 16 metres averaging 1.45% antimony and 6.29 grams gold, starting at a depth of 74 metres. This included a 2-metre section that assayed 4.5% antimony and 25.49 grams gold.

Hole 10 cut 10 metres averaging 0.72% antimony and 2.59 grams gold, starting at 84 metres down-hole. This included a 2-metre section of 3.19% antimony and 6.07 grams gold.

Hole 11 intersected 32 metres averaging 3.01% antimony and 5.23 grams gold starting at 78 metres down-hole. Included in this intercept were two 4-metre intercepts of 8.03% antimony and 13.3 grams gold, and 3.2% antimony and 11.59 grams gold.

Hole 12 cut 18 metres averaging 1.52% antimony and 3.73 grams gold starting at 82 metres down-hole, including a 2-metre interval of 2.25% antimony and 10.33 grams gold.

The LC underground workings extend over an area measuring 700 by 100 metres, whereas the Anabella workings comprise 350 by 150 metres. Aquest also plans to explore the area between the mines, as well as along the eastern extension of Anabella.

At last report, Aquest had 15.2 million shares fully diluted and $360,000 in working capital.
