A subsidiary of Asamera Inc. says it will immediately start a preliminary exploration program on what is described as one of the largest single underexplored mineral prospects in the state of Nevada.
The subsidiary, Asamera Minerals (U.S.) Inc., which acquired the ground from a subsidiary of Curtiss- Wright Corp., says the acquisition contains about 160 sq mi (103,000 acres) to the north and east of the Comstock Lode area, historically one of the major precious metals mining areas in the U.S.
Asamera Minerals purchased a 100% interest in the property, subject to a 2% net smelter royalty, and controls all the surface and mineral rights.
Nevada currently has 45 operating gold mines and last year was the source of more than 53% of all gold production in the United States.
