The sale of the interest ends LAQ’s involvement in asbestos mining. However, t he company will still remain a defendant in personal injury and property damage litigation which stems from its asbestos mining operations prior to July, 1986. At that time, LAQ rolled its asbestos assets, along with several other operators in the Thetford Mines area of Quebec, into a limited partnership.
