The 16-claim Toe property has been added to the holdings of Atna Resources (VSE) in the Finlayson Lake area of southeastern Yukon.
The Toe and two other properties, the Pak and Foot, lie within a stratigraphic package of volcanogenics similar to the nearby, newly discovered polymetallic sulphide deposit of Cominco.
An exploration program undertaken this fall sampled two mineralized targets on the Pak property: the Pak and East Cirque.
The Pak showing, which has a surface exposure of 300 metres, returned values of up to 5% copper, 11.1% zinc, 62 parts per million silver and 340 parts per billion gold over widths of 0.4 to 1 metre.
The East Cirque showing, situated 800 metres east of Pak, outcrops for 100 metres and returned values of up to 1.5% copper, 1.6% zinc, 0.4% lead and 24.4 grams silver per tonne over widths of 0.5 to 1 metre.
Geochemical and geophysical surveys indicate possible extensions for both of the zones.
Anomalous geochemical values from both the Foot and Toe properties suggest sulphide potential, and Atna plans to follow up in 1995 with an exploration program which will include drilling.
