Auction of shares set for Montreal

An auction of collectible stock certificates will be held on Feb 18 in Montreal. Organized by Micheline Masse, president of Stock Market Information Service, the auction will include many old and valuable mining share certificates.

Known for their ornate and colorful artwork, certificates have traded for more than $200. Ms Masse expects certificates of Beauce Mining, a c ompany formed in 1875, to exceed $250. On the lower end of the scale, many certificates can be had for less than $5. Some of the most colorful mining shares come from Spain and France. “We expect to get some of those,” Ms Masse says.

A catalogue of certificates being offered in the auction will be out by mid-January. For additional information contact Stock Market Information Service at Box 120, Station K, Montreal, Que. H1N3K9.
