Eight diamond drill holes were completed on seven of 12 magnetic anomalies as part of a program to test for potential kimberlite pipes. Kimberlite is the rock type commonly associated with diamonds around the world, especially in South Africa.
The company reports that five of the seven anomalies drilled were found to be altered pyroxenite and are not diamond bearing. Another target was found to be a fine grained peridotite, while the last was a magnetite-rich volcanic rock. Pyroxenite, an ultramafic rock, has limited use as a building stone, but is not diamond bearing.
Test work performed on samples of core from the recent drilling has not yielded diamonds, the company says. Aurogin has until Sept 30 to conduct additional work in order to earn a 50% interest in the Morrison properties.
