Barrick drills Jordex property in Bolivia

Two gold properties held by Jordex Resources (JDX-T) in the San Javier area of Bolivia are being drill-tested by joint-venture partner Barrick Gold (ABX-T).

Reverse-circulation drilling will test the Juan Miguel and Guaparutu properties, where, over the past six months, the partners have conducted geological mapping and soil geochemical sampling over a 100-sq.-km area.

Geophysical work was also conducted over most of the grid, which covers a strike length of 18 km.

That work defined two north-south-trending shear zones, which extend over the length of the survey area and underlie several stream-sediment and soil geochemical anomalies.

Four drill targets were outlined in the anomalous area, two of which are being tested in the initial program.

On its own, Jordex is drilling the Rancho Orkho property in southwestern Bolivia. The first two holes of the program intersected a broad zone of copper mineralization within brecciated sedimentary rocks. The first intersected 162.9 metres (from 64 metres to 226.9 metres) grading 0.23% copper, while the second hit 142 metres (from 20 to 162 metres) of 0.25% copper. A number of intervals from these holes also returned silver values; examples include 21.9 metres of 24.1 grams silver per tonne in the first hole and 46 metres of 54.5 grams silver in the second.

Jordex says results so far indicate a broad zone of copper mineralization, which has within it areas of significant silver mineralization. Assays from additional holes are expected shortly.
