Gold targets feature prominently in the list of projects being worked by Globex Mining Enterprises (GMX-T). This year, however, the junior acquired two projects where copper is the primary commodity of interest.
One is the Bateman Bay copper-gold deposit near Chibougamau, Que., which includes a probable reserve of 565,000 tons grading 1.8% copper, 0.12 oz.
gold and 0.47 oz. silver per ton. A 900-ft. shaft with three developed levels provides access to this zone.
Farther afield, in Arizona, Globex has acquired the Sheep Mountain copper deposit. Widely spaced drilling has outlined an enriched supergene blanket (at a depth of 1,900 ft.) averaging 90 ft. in thickness and grading 1.6% copper and 0.04% molybdenum in a body of 28 million tons.
Below this blanket, disseminated chalcopyrite of varying grades continues for more than 500 ft.
Studies show that the deposit may be amenable to bulk-mining and heap-leach technology.
