Bighorn diamond drilling at Island Lake property

Diamond drilling is under way at the Island Lake gold property of Bighorn Development Corp. Crews are also rehabilitating the abandoned shaft on this northern Manitoba property.

The crew has already recollared the shaft, erected a headframe and restored the first 125 ft of the shaft which was abandoned in 1938. The shaft will provide access for crews to bulk sample the 100 ft of drift already reported to exist on the 225- ft level. Early in 1987, the company plans to remo ve a 2,100-ton bulk sample while drifting a further 600 ft on the 225 ft level.

So far, 3,496 ft of a 20,000-ft diamond drilling has been completed in four holes. The Main vein has been intersected at about 370 ft, 510 ft and 795 ft below surface in a vertical fan of holes collared 250 ft north and 300 ft east of the shaft site. The Main vein has also been intersected 810 ft below surface in a hole collared 400 ft east of the shaft collared.

The Main vein is mineralized in all intersections and has an average width of about 4 ft in the four completed holes.

The current activities are funded with a $460,000 flow-through share financing from First Exploration Fund 1986.
