Birim and Battle define gold zone

A reverse-circulation drill program on the Dunkwa property in Ghana, West Africa, has defined a 300-metre-long zone of mineralization for partners Birim Goldfields (BIRM-C) and Battle Mountain Canada (BMC-T).

Results from the Adukrom anomaly, one of five geochemical targets on the property, range between 0.6 gram gold per tonne over 35 metres to 0.9 gram over 18 metres. Within these intersections are higher-grade intervals, such as 2.53 grams over 4 metres and 1.62 grams over 5 metres.

The north-northeast-trending, gold-bearing zone is open in all directions.

The latest drilling, including 840 metres within 14 holes, was confined to the top 40 metres of the oxide zone. Now the joint venture is contemplating a follow-up program of diamond drilling to investigate the persistance of the mineralized structure within the deeper sulphide zone.

Further results from the reverse-circulation program are expected in September.
