Boliden shutters plant

Boliden’s closure of a brass plant in West Bromwich, England, has resulted in the loss of 140 jobs.

The Swedish miner closed the plant in order to consolidate production at its site in Aldridge, north of Birmingham.

The concentration of production in one site will create annual cost savings of 3 million (US$4.8 million), Boliden says.

The consolidation will begin immediately and be completed in 2004.
