BP,Lysander to resume drilling on Cat property

A work program operated by BP Resources Canada (TSE) will begin next month to test a sulphide system with associated copper, gold and arsenic defined on the Cat property last year. The property is north of Prince George, B.C., and is a joint venture held 53% by BP, and 47% by Lysander Gold (VSE).

This year’s approved $440,000 program will test the sulphide system which measures about 3×5 km, and which appears to continue to the north and north-east.

The large sulphide system lies to the east of the Cat Mountain zone where drilling and trenching during 1989 and 1990 showed high-grade gold and copper associated with a major system of north-south shearing.

This zone is being compared with the Esker zone adjacent to the Mt. Milligan porphyry gold-copper deposits, also north of Prince George. Several consultants recently described the extent and character of the gold-copper-arsenic anomalies on the Cat property as comparable with Mt. Milligan. Other geological similarities were also noted.

The 1991 program will consist of 18 holes totalling 2,733 metres. In addition, the program will include geophysical and soil geochemical surveys and geological mapping which could provide additional exploration targets.

On its own, Lysander is planning a work program for its 100% owned Cat claims to evaluate the extension of the sulphide system to the north of the joint venture Cat property.
