Owners of the Mon gold project at Discovery Lake, N.W.T., are encouraged by exploration results to date. Can-Mac Exploration (VSE), in the midst of a drilling program, is awaiting the results of a recently extracted 2,800-ton bulk sample (taken in three batches). Geologist Dave Webb said the drill pattern is employing 20-ft. centres because of the erratic grades encountered. “It’s a very spotty vein. You either get high grade or low grade,” he said. Previous drilling returned one ounce gold per ton, he added.
Underground development on the property includes a 200-ft.-long ramp, 125 ft. of lateral workings and a 70-ft. raise.
Can-Mac is earning a 100% interest in the property by spending $50,000 per year over three years. Cominco (TSE) has the right to claim a 60% back-in by doubling expenditures.
