Exploration drilling workhorse Cabo Drilling (CBE-V) has racked up another drilling contract, this time on the United States’ northern frontier -Alaska.
The contract with Fire River Gold (FAU-V), will see Cabo’s U.S. division, Cabo Drillling (America) drill 8,000 metres at its flagship Nixon Fork gold mine in Alaska’s Tintina gold belt.
“We are excited to be a part of the professional services team chosen for this flagship Fire River project, working to bring the Nixon Fork gold mine back into production,” said Earl Masarsky, general manager of Cabo Drilling (America), in a press release.
As part of the program, which features both underground and surface drilling, Cabo will use its customized Mini Mite drills. The multipurpose drill is ideal for the remote project as it can be adjusted in the field to match the specific drilling conditions needed for that target.
The past year has been a time of clarity for Fire River, which bought the fly-in project near McGrath, Alaska, in late 2008.
The company has spent the past year focusing on combing through old drill results from previous operators and doing extensive drilling at Nixon Fork.
