Production from its gold mine in northern Mexico enabled Campbell Resources (TSE) to report higher earnings for the first half of 1995.
The Santa Gertrudis mine contributed 23,900 oz., while the Joe Mann copper-gold mine in northwestern Quebec yielded 33,000 oz. Overall production jumped to 59,600 oz., compared with 35,100 oz. in the same period last year.
Operating costs fell to US$263 per oz., a 12% drop from the year-ago figure of US$298.
The Santa Gertrudis was explored by means of 132 holes, comprising 34,400 ft. As a result of certain significant intersections, Campbell increased the drill budget by $400,000. Assay results are still pending from six prospective zones. Compilation of other results is under way and a reserve calculation is being prepared.
Exploration drilling will resume in September.
