Cancor drills turn on Gemini

Cancor Mines (KCR-T) has resumed drilling on the Gemini polymetallic property in the Abitibi region of Quebec.

A 6,000-metre summer drill program will focus on testing a number of strong borehole geophysical anomalies in zones A and B and on the newly discovered zone 98.

Over the winter, Cancor completed a 3,718-metre drill campaign aimed at delineating zone B at depth and along strike.

Zone B consists of two lenses — the Zinc zone and the Copper zone. In addition, there are significant silver showings and, in places, gold mineralization. The latest results confirm the presence of a new zone of copper-zinc-silver and gold mineralization. Several geophysical targets have yet to be tested.

To date, zone B’s Zinc zone has an estimated indicated and inferred resources of 1.3 million tons grading 8.26% zinc-equivalent. The Copper zone has estimated inferred resources of 700,000 tons grading 3.01% copper-equivalent.

Zone A, on the northern part of the property, is very similar to zone B and comprises a North and South zone (thought to be parts of the same zone) which are 800 metres apart.

Better drill intersections from the North zone include hole 40, which cut 13.82 metres grading 1.14 grams gold and 3 grams silver per tonne, and hole 44, which cut 26.96 metres of 1.14 grams gold and 4.1 grams silver. Mineralization has been outlined to a depth of 250 metres over a 450-metre strike length.

Limited drilling on the South zone has returned gold values averaging around 0.5 gram. The highest value so far is 1.1 grams gold over 2.77 metres. The zone remains open in all directions.

Zone 98 was discovered in early March by a hole of the same number. The hole was collared 600 metres north of the Zinc zone and returned 1.06% copper, 0.41 gram gold and 10.7 grams silver over 5.52 metres. The mineralization coincides with a surface electromagnetic conductor 1,000 metres long. The zone remains open in all directions. A strong borehole electromagnetic anomaly indicates an extension to the northwest.

The 268-claim Gemini property is north of La Sarre and south of the Casa Berardi gold mine. It covers a felsic volcanic belt more than 20 km long.
