A gold discovery has been made by partners Captain Consolidated Resources and Koala Resources on their Pukaskwa property. The claims are located in a greenstone belt nine miles northwest of the Mishibishu area, west of Wawa, Ont.
Drilling tested several widely spaced geophysical targets, outlined by survey work completed in August, 1986. The best gold value of 0.41 oz gold per ton, came from a 5-ft section of sulphide iron formation.
The unit has a geophysical signature striking for more than 2,600 ft.
A drill test of another geophysical conductor intersected a 5-ft section grading 0.11 oz. A third drill hole cut a 5-ft section of fine grained volcanic material grading 0.04 oz. Five other drill holes only intersected background gold values, the partners say.
The drilling was confined to a 4-sq-mi area which has been expanded by additional staking, consulting geologist Fenton Scott says.
Most of the greenstone belt is the site of a staking rush, Mr Scott adds. Both Captain and Koala plan to complete additional drilling on their property.
