Carbon Link Corporation, a member of CPL Environmental, an established activated carbon supplier to the gold mining industry, is seeking to employ a “GOLD RECOVERY EXPERT,” demonstrating technical expertise in the process control of gold recovery using activated carbon. The successful applicant should be a Mining Engineering, Geologist or similar professional background, have direct experience and knowledge in the use of activated carbon in processing gold recovery, have hands on experience with all levels of personnel within the gold plant, be able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of all processes of activated carbon within the plant and have superb communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the sale of CPL Carbon Link’s full range of activated and impregnated carbons and carbon filtration products in all other industries. lectrical Supervisor

Goldcorp Inc. is looking for a results oriented Electrical Supervisor to plan, specify and direct installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of surface and underground power distribution systems, mineral processing, mine production, hoisting and production support equipment at its world class gold property at Red Lake, Ontario.

You have demonstrated leadership capability to work with a team of electricians and technicians to ensure equipment, systems and facilities are consistently operating up to standards of efficiency, reliability and safety.

You will have 5 years of hands-on supervisory practice in an underground mining environment. You have a working knowledge of automated DC electric mine hoists, programmable controllers and mobile electric mining equipment. Experience with instrumentation would be an asset. Your track record exhibits exceptional oral and written communications skills, computer literacy, strong technical problem solving and innovative solution finding; you are a person with a bias for action and have an ability to make independent cost-effective and informed decisions. Preference will be given to those applicants with an engineering diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary school.

The Lisheen Mine, Tipperary, Ireland

Ivernia West plc. and Minorco are partners in a Joint Venture to develop a Zinc/Lead mine in County Tipperary, Ireland. This is a world class mining project and the biggest zinc discovery in Europe in the last 15 years. Underground trackless mining methods will be employed. Production will be at the rate of 1.5 mt. per annum. Production of zinc and lead concentrates will average 300,000 tonnes and 40,000 tonnes respectively per annum over the 14 year predicted life of the mine. As we prepare for the operational phase of the mine which is due to commence in the final quarter of 1999, we now invite applications for the following positions:

MINING

Mine Deputy / Shift Boss (6) (Ref. SB/8/99):

The successful candidates will be required to ensure the health and safety of personnel in their charge, whilst achieving production, quality and cost targets.

Ideally the people appointed will have a minimum of five years relevant underground experience and be holders of a Mine Deputy’s Certificate in a hardrock trackless operation.

Mechanics (6) (Ref. F/8/99):

The successful candidates will have served a recognized Mechanics apprenticeship and will be required to install, repair and maintain underground fixed equipment e.g. crushers/conveyors/fixed pumps/fans. They will also assist where required in other mining activities for which they are competent, to ensure the achievement of the team’s objectives with regard to safety, quality, costs and production.

Fitter Fabricators (3) (Ref. FF/8/99):

The successful candidates must have served a recognized craft apprenticeship as a Fitter Fabricator and will be required to fabricate and maintain services and utility equipment for the underground operation.

It would be a distinct advantage to have previous underground experience.

Diesel Mechanics (12) (Ref. M/8/99):

The successful candidates will be required to maintain the underground mobile mining equipment and assist with production activities when required, have served a recognized Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship and ideally have a number of years experience working in a hardrock trackless underground mine. A knowledge of Auto Electrics, familiarity with Tamrock mobile equipment, Atlas Copco Jumbo and Bolters would be an added advantage.

Electricians (9) (Ref. E/8/99):

The people appointed will have served a recognized electrical apprenticeship and have experience in installing, repairing and maintaining Medium Voltage (up to 10kv) fixed equipment in the underground mine. In addition candidates will be expected to service a 660v electric/hydraulic mobile fleet, whilst assisting in the maintenance and repairs of mobile equipment. Experience and knowledge of maintaining Control and Instrumentation Systems would be an advantage.

Miners (Ref. M/8/99):

The Miners will assist in achieving underground mining objectives with respect to production, safety and quality, have at least two years experience in an underground mine and be holders of a Shot Fire Certificate. Hard rock mining experience in a trackless environment will be a distinct advantage.

Mechanical/Electrical Foreman (3) (Ref. MEF/8/99):

The successful candidates will be required to co-ordinate the maintenance of underground fixed plant equipment and the supervision of maintenance personnel, must have served a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship and have a working knowledge of computers. Good interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.

Control & Instrumentation Specialist (Ref. CIS/8/99):

The Control and Instrumentation Specialist will ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the S.C.A.D.A. (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system and other control and instrumentation equipment.

The person appointed should have a recognized craft qualification together with Instrumentation plc experience or training, have at least three years relevant experience and a working knowledge of computers.

Preferred candidates would be holders of a current European Union Passport.

The candidates appointed to all of the above positions should be comfortable working underground, be a team player and have the ability to work well with other functions / departments underground. They must also be Safety and Quality conscious.

Underground Superintendent

Campbell Mine located in Balmertown, Ontario, is looking for a highly motivated, strong team player, for the position of Underground Superintendent for their 1800 tpd underground operation.

Duties & Responsibilities: Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the position is responsible for all facets of the Responsibilities underground mine department. You will ensure safe, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible management of mining operations. The Underground Superintendent participates in the budgetary process and ensures that the mining activities are carried out in accordance with Company policy and Government regulations.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 to 10 years relevant experience with proven management skills, and a related engineering degree from a recognized university. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are requisite in leading a workforce of 194 people.

Campbell Mine has produced 9.5 million ounces through 50 years of continuous production. The current annual production is 300,000 ounces, with nine years of ore reserves. The Red Lake area has a population of approximately 5,000 people. We boast excellent medical facilities, schools, and the availability to numerous recreational opportunities afforded by the surrounding lakes.
