Reverse-circulation drilling is under way on the Bombore and Somita properties in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
The work consists of 150 holes over 15,000 metres. The concessions are two of four held in the area by Channel Resources (TSE). These comprise 6,200 sq. km underlain by Birimian Formation volcanics. On Bombore and Somita, more than 20 targets have been identified as a result of mapping, geophysical surveys and sampling.
This past summer, 20 targets were drilled, resulting in nine holes intersecting ore grade mineralization, eight holes returning marginal grade and three holes reporting no significant values. Principal intersections included 8 metres grading 8.66 grams gold per tonne, 18 metres of 6.17 grams and 22 metres of 3.89 grams.
The two other concessions, Soubeiga and Bouroum, are being explored as well. Channel can earn a 90% interest in Bombore and Soubeiga by spending $2.4 million over three years, and a 95% stake in Somita by spending $1.8 million over three years.
