Initial drilling by Chase Resource (CQS-T) at its Archangel gold-copper property in the Philippines has expanded the area of known mineralization.
Flat-lying zones of sheeted quartz veins and intensely silicified andesite in the area have been found to host oxidized gold mineralization. The recent program focused on three prominent hills near the centre of the property: Kay Tanda, Pulang Lupa and Balibago.
Thirteen reverse-circulation drill holes totalling 1,544 metres were completed in January. Nine were drilled at Kay Tanda and two at Pulang Lupa, with an additional two holes drilled northwest of Kay Tanda to test for extensions of the silica sheet below the younger volcanic cover.
Results from Kay Tanda included: 42 metres from hole 1 grading 0.41 gram gold per tonne; 98 metres from surface at hole 2 grading 0.85 gram; 116 metres from surface at hole 3 grading 0.55 gram; 38 metres from hole 4 grading 0.78 gram; 26 metres from hole 5 grading 0.49 gram; and 72 metres from surface at hole 7 grading 0.46 gram.
The highest-grade intercept was from hole 9: 18 metres grading 1.17 grams gold. Another 44 metres from the same hole graded 0.56 gram.
The results expanded the silica zone at Kay Tanda to about 400 by 350 metres, and confirmed the continuity of gold values suggested by earlier drilling.
The thickness of the gold-bearing layer has also increased, to between 50 and 75 metres. Mineralization remains open to the west towards Pulang Lupa, 1,000 metres west of Kay Tanda.
Assays are pending for holes that were drilled to test possible extensions of the mineralized zone to the northwest, and of the previously identified mineralization at Pulang Lupa hill to the west.
The 1,215-ha project is 120 km south of Manilla, in the southeastern province of Batangas.
