A 1-metre-wide zone of massive chalcopyrite, pyrite and patchy quartz was uncovered during summer trenching in the Discovery A area, near Portage Lake. A series of panel-chip samples taken across the trenched showing yielded values ranging from 2% to 15% copper, 34 to 177 grams silver and up to 0.33 gram gold per tonne over 0.6-to-1.5-metre sample widths. Christopher James exposed the zone for a 25-metre length before being hindered by water and saturated sandy till.
The massive-sulphide/quartz showing follows a fault-shear zone in Nicola Group augite porphyry, and locally contains pyritic magnetite with dark chlorite alteration. Within the zone are numerous 10-to-60-cm-wide stockworks of massive chalcopyrite.
The discovery was made on a strong geophysical anomaly 50 metres up-ice from where, last year, prospector Paul Watt discovered a concentration of oxidized, chalcopyrite-rich, massive-sulphide pebbles in a till bank.
The company plans to test the showing at shallow depths and along strike with an initial 4-6 holes. A 7-hole, 879-metre program was completed earlier this summer on the Worldstock porphyry prospect, which also occurs on the Silver Lake property. Disseminated chalcopyrite mineralization over variable widths was reported in six of the holes. Results have been delayed while Christopher James focuses its efforts on the new copper showing.
