CIM looks for comments on practice guidelines

The Estimation Guidelines Committee of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum has completed its draft guidelines covering proposed “best practices” for estimating mineral resources and reserves.

The committee is inviting comments on its draft, titled “Estimation of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves — Best Practice Guidelines.” The guidelines recommend the key elements of a program to estimate mineral resources and reserves, and are meant to set standards for the reporting of resource and reserve figures and for companies and professionals doing the estimates.

The guidelines are to be outlined on the CIM’s web site, at http://www.cim.org/committees/executive_summary.html. More information on the committee’s mandate is available at www.cim.org/committees/estimation.html

Comments should be submitted by March 1 and can be e-mailed to estimationguidelines@cim.org
