The 99th annual meeting of the Colorado Mining Association will focus on the survival of the industry in a growing global economy. The National Western Mining Conference and Exhibition, will be held Feb. 25-28 at the Hyatt Regency in Denver, Colo. Scheduled speakers include: Gen. Richard Lawson, president of the National Mining Association; Margaret Witte, president of Royal Oak Mines; Senator Hank Brown of Denver; and Colorado congressman Wayne Allard.
Short courses will include mining and environmental ethics, mine closure, and the Internet and mining.
Other topics for discussion will include economic trends in the mining industry, national and state environmental policy and strategies required for domestic and foreign mining markets in the 21st century.
