The Con underground gold mine at Yellowknife, N.W.T., helped generated first-quarter earnings of $2.4 million (or 4 cents per share) for Miramar Mining (TSE).
The mine produced 28,880 oz. gold during the period at a cash cost of US$323 per oz., compared with 28,116 oz. at US$341 per oz. in the first quarter of 1995. At last report, the Con mine hosted reserves and resources totalling 1.9 million oz. of contained gold.
Cash flow after changes in non-cash working capital items totalled $2.7 million, compared with cash flow of $17,000 in the first quarter of 1995.
