The Northern Miner wishes to retract and clarify certain editorial comments referring to Delgratia Mining published in our Jan 5-11/98 issue.
It was reported that an audit on Delgratia’s Josh property in Nevada, performed last spring by Brian Mountford and Morris Beattie, found Delgratia’s senior management, including former president Charles Ager, “innocent” and “victims of data falsification”. In fact, the audit contained no such conclusions, though it did establish that there was “insignificant gold contained in the Josh deposit and . . . any gold detected beyond background amounts was introduced into the samples after they had been collected at the drill.”
A Delgratia press release dated May 19, 1997, quotes Mr. Ager as saying that Dr. Beattie and Mr. Mountford had “identifed the likely source of the tampering and it does not involve anyone from the Company or Cactus Mining;” and Delgratia “has been the victim of data falsification”. These comments are not contained in the audit report and, therefore, appear to be solely the opinion of Mr. Ager. We regret the error.
