The Mines Accident Prevention Association of Ontario says 1986 saw the lowest accident frequency rate ever recorded in the history of Ontario’s mining industry. During the year the lost- time injury frequency rate was 3.9 compared to 1985’s rate of 4.7.
The association will present for the first time its safety awards in recognition of the industry’s safety achievers at its 56th annual meeting in Toronto May 27-29.
