Vancouver — Drilling by
The reverse-circulation program focused on the Mwamazengo prospect, which is in an area of historic mining.
Highlights include 3.7 grams gold per tonne across 32 metres (from a depth of 4 metres), including 7 metres of 6.3 grams gold, in hole 1, and 3.2 grams gold over 14 metres (from 54 metres) in hole 2.
Four RC holes in all were drilled; these totalled 450 metres and were spaced on 90-metre centres along strike. An additional 19 rotary-air-blast holes, totalling 935 metres, tested for parallel zones of mineralization as well as strike extensions. The RAB holes encountered mineralization both north and south along strike.
The 178-sq.-km project occupies a portion of the Mabale greenstone belt in the Lake Victoria Goldfields region. Gold mineralization at Mwamazengo occurs along a banded iron formation-tuff contact and is associated with a northeastern series of quartz veins.
The partners are now drilling the Jubilee Reef gold project, 40 km southwest of Mabale Hills.
The company is earning up to a 70% interest in the Jubilee Reef, Mabale Hills and Nyamirembi projects from Sub-Sahara Resources in return for 4 million shares (already issued), staged exploration expenditures totalling US$1.17 million over three years, and completion of a bankable feasibility study on one of the projects.
