Cusac to drill PGM property

A contract for the first 5,000 ft. of a 30,00-ft. drill program has been let by Cusac Gold Mines (CQC-T) to test the Clearwater platinum project, north of Kamloops, B.C.

Cusac President Guilford Brett says the program is significant for the province, which has seen a slowdown in exploration activity. The initial target covers an area of induced-polarization anomalies where anomalous nickel and cobalt concentrations have been obtained in soil and rock samples. Of particular interest is a 0.4-oz. platinum result obtained from dunite. The target will be tested for this mineralization at various depths.

Previous mapping by Cusac and previous operators has shown that the local ultramafic intrusion is compositionally layered and composed of serpentine, dunite, peridotite, pyroxenite and gabbro lithologies. The goal of the program is to outline one or more large nickel/cobalt/chromium/platinum-group-metal deposits.
