Deep drilling for Tache zinc-gold bet

After completing a 5,200-ft. drillling program on the Tache zinc- gold prospect near Chibougamau, Que., Bitech (ASE) says further deep drilling is warranted to test the property below the 600-ft. horizon. To date, Bitech has spent nearly $1.45 million exploring the zinc property above that depth as part of its option to earn a 50% interest in the claims from Toronto-based Greenstone Resources (TSE).

Previous surface drilling above the 600-ft. horizon has outlined a significant pocket of zinc-gold mineralization on the property’s Tache zone. The latter is one of two main zones that were tested by the recent drilling.

The first hole in this season’s program cut 141 ft. grading 5.5% zinc and 0.11 oz. gold per ton in the Tache zone. Another hole, drilled about 100 ft. below that intersection, cut three significant but narrower intervals with the best grading 3.66% zinc and 0.04 oz. over 47.9 ft.

A follow-up hole, 200 ft. to the west, cut a narrow extension to the zone grading 5.4% zinc and 0.11 oz. across 8.5 ft. Hole 54, which tested the Tache horizon 100 ft. to the east, returned two narrow 1-ft. intervals with grades up to 4% zinc and 0.04 oz.

Two additional holes were drilled to test an area between the Tache and Berrigan zone, another zinc- gold occurrence, about 400 ft. to the east. One of those holes cut 5.1% zinc and 0.16 oz. over 7 ft., while the second intersected weakly mineralized horizons.

Based on its recent work, Bitech says more extensive zinc-gold mineralization than was previously indicated has been outlined on the Tache claims. .n20
