Vancouver — Initial processing of a portion of Hudson Resources’ (HUD-V, HUDRF-O) 50-tonne mini-bulk sample from its Garnet Lake kimberlite dyke, in western Greenland, has returned 350 diamonds including seven “commercial-sized” stones.
The 350-kg representative sub-sample from kimberlite collected last September was tested for its diamond content. The results correlate well with Hudson’s earlier sampling.
Hudson categorizes its commercial-sized stones as those large enough to be caught by a plus-850 micron square mesh sieve. The three largest diamonds were an off-white 2.59 by 2.19 by 0.72 mm transparent macle, an off-white 1.94 by 1.82 by 1.45 mm translucent fragment with crystal faces and a white 1.37 by 1.11 by 0.80 mm translucent dodecahedron.
In analyzing 12 of the larger stones, laboratory analyst SGS Mineral Services described nine as white and three as off-white. Hudson expects processing of its 50-tonne mini-bulk sample to be completed in February.
