A drill program by Australian-based Ashton Mining will test the Mountain Ash diamond project in South Africa.
The project is a joint venture held 51% by Ashton and 49% by Mountain Lake Resources (MOA-V). A 5,000-Metre program will test the tonnage potential of previously explored diamondiferous gravels on the land package. The next step will be a 50,000-Ton bulk sample to determine grade and the average value of the diamonds recovered.
On its own, Mountain Lake is continuing a trenching program to test its Moii River diamond project in South Africa. Alluvial gravels from this project are reported to have produced more than 260,000 carats historically, worth an estimated US$80 million.
