At presstime, investors were eagerly awaiting results of recent drilling on property held by DHK Resources in the Lac de Gras area.
The DHK group of companies, along with partner Kennecott Canada, has the most advanced diamond exploration program outside the Dia Met-BHP claim block. Their release — including results of definition drilling on the diamond-bearing Tli Kwi Cho pipe — is expected to represent another milestone for the news-hungry diamond play. Aber Resources (TSE) and SouthernEra Resources (TSE) each have a 10% stake in Tli Kwi Cho. Northwest Territories
* No diamonds were recovered during drilling on the Outlet Bay diatreme at Dubawnt Lake, reports Leeward Capital (VSE). But the company says the presence of indicator minerals in the core, including G9
and G10 garnets and picro-
ilmenites, indicates that the potential for diamonds in other pipes in the area remains strong.
* Pure Gold Resources (TSE) has sampled more than 800,000 acres in the Humpy Lake and Tsan Lake region under a joint venture with Winslow Gold (VSE). About 600 samples are now being processed at the field laboratory. Ashton Mining has started compiling and interpreting results, and drilling permits have been granted.
* Partners Tanqueray Resources (ASE), Fibre-Klad Industries (ASE) and Mill City Gold Mining (ASE) say preliminary samples from their Yamba Lake property have yielded a large number of chrome diopsides and pyrope garnets, including G-9s and suspected G-10s. The samples are being collected down-ice from anomalies identified during the 1992 geophysical survey. A number of additional anomalies were outlined during a recent survey.

Winslow Gold (VSE), along with partners Surf Oil (ASE) and Northwind Ventures (VSE), has acquired additional claims 90 miles southeast of Winnipeg. The joint venture’s landholdings in the area now total 43,349 acres. The claims cover about 20 individual targets which will be followed up with till-sampling this summer.
Ontario and Quebec
* Ashton Mining has agreed to fund and manage kimberlite evaluation as well as any feasibility studies, mine development, mining operations and diamond-marketing for properties held by KWG Resources (ME) in Ontario and western Quebec.
KWG will fund and manage (with Ashton’s advice) exploration up to the discovery stage.
* Ground magnetometer and electromagnetic surveys will be carried out over five airborne magnetic anomalies on property held by East West Resource (VSE) and Consolidated Top Gun Exploration (VSE) in Reaume Twp, Ont. Top Gun may earn a 50% interest in the 24-claim unit by spending $250,000 by June, 1995. * By spending $100,000 by Oct. 31 and making a $12,500 payment by the end of the year, Findore Minerals (CDN) may earn a 50% interest in the AM-47 pipe near Kirkland Lake, Ont. A 500-ft. hole on the pipe recently yielded 316 ft. of kimberlite. Testing for diamonds is under way.
* By paying $255,000 in cash or shares and spending $3 million on exploration over three years, Blue Emerald Resources (VSE), Chesbar Resources (ME) and Noront Resources (VSE) may earn a 50% interest in separate portions of property held by Exploration Orbite (ME) in the Le Tac Twp. area of northwestern Quebec.
Preliminary studies by Orbite earlier this year confirmed the presence of pyrope-bearing kimberlite on the 8,500-acre property. The trio of companies will have the opportunity to increase their respective interests to 60% by making a further payment of $250,000 each.
United States
* Golconda Resources (ASE) says it has staked 60 claims in Plumas Cty., Calif., after an indicator mineral study lead to the discovery of two intrusions described as “lamproitic.” The junior expects to begin drilling on its diamond exploration properties in Oregon, Idaho and California this month. * Oakmont Resources, a subsidiary of United Compass Resources, has acquired two groups of mining claims in southern Wyoming. Included are 860 acres in the State-line district and 35 claims in the Lucite Hills area. Overseas
* Redaurum Red Lake Mines (TSE) has closed its agreement to acquire Cornerstone Investments, an Australian company that owns half of the River Ranch mine in Zimbabwe. As part of the approval process, Redaurum has raised $924,825 through a private placement of 1.68 million shares. A total of 43,500 carats from the mine have been sold since it started production in early 1992. A new heavy media separation plant will be commissioned in November, increasing production to about 130,000 carats per annum.
* The latest four samples to be processed at the Bamingui-Bangoran project in the Central African Republic returned 12 diamonds with a combined total weight of 3.91 carats, reports United Reef Petroleums (TSE). The company has recovered and stockpiled about 200 diamonds to date. Appraisals are under way in Toronto and New York.
