Production at operations owned by South African-based Ocean Diamond Mining Holdings are expected to meet projections.
For the 6-month period ended Sept. 30, the company, produced 31,401 carats from the Basin, Long Island and Albatross marine diamond concessions, off the coast of Namibia and South Africa. The production target was 31,250 carats. Ocean Diamond is expected to produce 62,500 carats for the year ending March 31, 1999.
A sale of diamonds in September netted the company about 15% less per carat than an anticipated average price of $170.
