SouthernEra Resources (suf-t) has found a kimberlitic body on a strike extension of the Sugarbird fissure on its Klipspringer project in South Africa’s Northern province.
The new body has been traced in 12 drill holes and several trenches over a strike length of 250 metres, and is open at both ends. Where drilled, it has a true width ranging from 12 to 50 metres.
The discovery, SouthernEra reports, appears to represent the eastern strike extension of the Sugarbird fissure. If so, the length of the fissure system would be extended to more than 5 km.
Meanwhile processing of one 27.9-tonne kimberlite sample from the M-1 pipe on the Marsfontein farm at Klipspringer has yielded 52.43 carats, representing a grade of 1.9 carats per tonne. Final sorting and grease-table recovery of diamonds from the original M-1 sample have added 6.35 carats, bringing the total from that 31.5-tonne sample to 66.22 carats.
Infill and delineation drilling to a depth of 100 metres has enabled SouthernEra to define the M-1 pipe as an oval body, 85 metres by 55 metres in size. Drilling of deep holes to extend the body at depth is planned.
