Tandem Resources (TDM-M) reports that preliminary testing of a small amount of drill core has confirmed the presence of microdiamonds and corundums on the company’s Guibord Twp. property east of Matheson, Ont.
The corundums (aluminum oxide, notable for its hardness and transparency) have yet to be examined for classification as either rubies or sapphires.
The results of this preliminary testing will be used to determine what procedures will be used to evaluate roughly 20 tons of kimberlite gathered in a recent drilling program.
Previously, a 190-lb. sample from the property was found to contain 1,790 rubies and three microdiamonds. Forty of the rubies were between 0.8 and 2 mm in diameter.
Tandem can earn an 80% interest in the property from Homestake Mining (hm-n) by spending $2 million on exploration by 2000.
