Dios Exploration (DOS-V) and Sirios Resources (SOI-V) have discovered uranium in grab samples from outcrops on the Opinaca Nord project in the LaGuiche metasedimentary basin in the James Bay area of northern Quebec.
Dios, which is earning a 50% stake in the project from Sirios and is the operator, has collected 11 grab samples from the 800-metre-long zone, where it has identified three targets – A1, A2 and A3. The company highlights three of the 11 samples, grading 0.17% uranium oxide, 0.12% and 0.08%.
The mineralization consists of disseminated uranophane and uraninite within migmatites (paleosomes).
Last year the company highlighted three samples, grading 0.62% uranium oxide, 0.16% and 0.1%. Field radiation readings from the area averaged 2,000-5,000 counts per second (CPS), with maximum readings of 14,000 CPS. Another target, D1, is a lower priority, since uranium grades and radiation readings there are lower.
Dios owns 100% of UGO, another project in the Opinaca district. There, it collected 32 grab samples from tonalitic and pegmatitic outcrops, highlighting four samples grading 0.06% uranium oxide, 0.04%, 0.03% and 0.03%. The samples were collected within a 1-km radius.
Dios also owns 100% of U2, another project in the LaGuiche area. It collected 25 grab samples from outcrops on the property, highlighting three samples grading 0.06% uranium oxide, 0.04% and 0.03%.
Another project in the LaGuiche area is Upinor, where Dios holds 50% in a joint venture with Sirios. The companies collected 120 grab samples, of which 25 graded higher than 0.05% uranium oxide. Of these, five samples graded higher than 0.1% uranium oxide. The highest assay was 0.23% uranium oxide.
Mineralization on Upinor consists of disseminated uraninite, uranophane, apatite, molybdenite and biotite in metric low-dipping pegmatite-alaskite sills/dykes injected in paragneiss.
Dios believes that its discoveries in the LaGuiche area have defined a potential new uranium district. In addition, Opinaca Nord has the potential for discovery of emeralds.
Dios has 34 million shares outstanding, and $5 million in working capital. At presstime, the shares were trading at 13.5¢. The shares have been trading in a 5¢-37¢ range over the past 12 months.
