Vancouver —
Initially, the drilling will try to extend the Afton Main zone toward the surface. The Main zone appears to widen toward the southwest, and DRC will investigate that potential.
This drilling is part of an overall $4.7-million exploration program.
DRC has spent a total of $2.5 million on Afton over the past two years, having drilled 49 NQ-size (47.6-mm core diameter) diamond drill holes totalling 23,800 metres. From these, 38 holes intersected the mineralized zone over a strike length of 850 metres.
Highlights from last year’s drill program include: 263 metres grading 1.58% copper, plus 0.03 oz. gold, 0.07 oz. silver and 0.002 oz. palladium per ton; and 204 metres grading 1.53% copper, 0.03 oz. gold, 0.07 oz. silver and 0.006 oz. palladium.
