Drilling probes Blackdome mine

A minimum 5,000-ft. diamond drilling program is under way at the Blackdome gold mine in southwestern British Columbia.

Petro Plus (PPV-A) can earn a half interest in the former underground producer from Claimstaker Resources (CLN-V) by funding $2.5 million in exploration and development by May 1, 1997.

The current program is designed to confirm and extend some of the mine’s known oreshoots in an effort to develop a proven or probable reserve.

The drilling will also test the South Rhyolite area, an anomalous zone of gold in soils overlying a major fault structure.

Claimstaker reports that the South Rhyolite zone appears to run parallel to the No. 1 and No. 2 vein structures which produced close to 225,000 oz. gold from 1986 to 1991.
